A Run to Remember  The Armenian community of Toronto participated in this years Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon with over 220 runners and walkers. Men and women, boys and girls from all the organizations within the Armenian Community Centre came out with their pledges and running shoes to brave the hot and humid weather for a good cause. The group got together early in the morning and ventured downtown on four buses where they met up with over 15,000 other paricipants at the CNE. The 21 km half marathon started at 8:00 am and the 5km race started at 10:20 am and ended about an hour later at the Toronto City Hall. The community raised funds for Make a Wish, Sickkids Hospital, Armenian Relief Society, Hayasdan Heemnadram and other worthy charities. The route started inside the Princess Gates, went east along Lakeshore Blvd to Bay Street and then north on Bay to City Hall where thousands of people where gathered to greet the participants crossing the finish line with loud cheers and applause. Toronto Mayor, David Miller as well as hundreds or professional runners from around the world took part in the event that is getting bigger and bigger every year. Committee chair Sam Manougian was very proud of the community for turning out and supporting such great causes.
