Isabel Bayrakdarian performs benefit concert at U of T

World-renowned soprano Isabel Bayrakdarian performed a benefit concert at her alma mater on Friday, November 25th in Convocation Hall.  From her humble beginnings in St. Mary’s Armenian Apostolic Church Choir, she now graces the greatest concert stages around the world and brings pride to Armenians everywhere.  All proceeds of the event will support the refurbishment of the pipe organ at Convocation Hall. 

Bayrakdarian holds an honours degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Toronto.  She is the subject of a CBC-TV film called A Long Journey Home that documents her emotional and musical first trip to Armenia, where she recently recorded an album of works by Gomidas.
