Unger Raffi Sarkissian published in York University newspaper

York University’s student newspaper the Excalibur published "Speak Up" in its November 23rd edition, an article written by Unger Raffi Sarkissian, former president of ARF YOC Toronto Chapter.  The provocative article exposes appalling failures of democracy in Turkey, highlighting the prevalence of state censorship and the disregard for basic political rights of its citizens.  Read the article here.

Using three current cases as models, the author links present-day patterns of the mistreatment of intellectuals to Turkey’s atrocious human rights record.  Unger Sarkissian, a fourth year history and geography major at York University, is a regular contributor to the Excalibur.

Unger Raffi is also the author of a feature length article published in the Excalibur on March 9, 2005, entitled Of History and Ethnic Cleansing.
