FOE 2006 ::: Huge success with Armenian youth TORONTO – On Saturday, February 4, the ARFYOC Political Committee hosted Freedom of Expression, a groundbreaking event highlighting the importance of youth involvement in political affairs. The event, over a year in the making, was organized by the youth for the youth. “Justice needs a voice, why not yours?” was the message echoed through various media and live performances. The evening featured musical appearances by MC Lori and Armenian band Pyunik. Master of Ceremonies Hagop Mksyartinian and ARF YOC Executive Member Natalie Macleod delivered exceptionally captivating messages and successfully connected with the predominantly student audience. ARFYOC member Daniel Ohanian launched the evening’s program by reciting a poem written by a fellow member Raffi Sarkissian. The work of the ARFYOC Simon Zavarian Film Group was also showcased. Their latest production features interviews with local polticians and academics, as well as footage of young Armenians participating in peaceful protests across Canada to condemn the Turkish government’s denial of the Armenian genocide, and the genocide that continues in the Darfur region of Sudan.
